Very Tasty! Here is how I made it: Used Jiffy mix for the cornbread and followed the directions on the box. Added the foam corn to the jiffy mix. Browned and drained the beef. Added a taco seasoning packet to the beefiness. Put half the cornbread mixture on the bottom of the dish, then added a layer of cheese, then a layer the seasoned beef, then the residue of the cornbread. Melt for 30 minutes, add cheese and cook for another 10. My family loved it!

This recipe was splendid the get-go fourth dimension I made it as is. The second time I made the cornbread as directed but added chopped onions, a scrap of jalapeno, cumin, chili pulverisation, garlic pulverisation, and thyme to the basis beef every bit it cooked. I just spooned the ground beef on top of the cornbread mixture and topped with cheddar cheese before 5 minutes earlier removing from oven. Heavenly!!! Serve with a greenish veggie on the side and make this an entree'.

I like this a lot. I fried the onion and pepper with the basis beef and used lots more cheese. sixty minutes did make it quite brown, and so I tin meet why the other reviewer pulled it afterward fifty, but I like it crispy. I topped it with sour cream served it as a main dish. I don't unremarkably take fresh jalepenos on hand, so next time I'll probably use canned green chiles. A winner!

I used 2 prepackaged cornmeal, mix them seperate and add together one jalepeno to each. Put ane mix on the bottom of pan, add meat, corn and cheese, then put the other mix as top layer. Makes a "stuffed" cornbread. My whole family unit loves it.

I take been looking for this recipe forever! My mom used to make this quite a bit and I could not find it anywhere. Thanks =)

This was a good idea, but I was running short on time and altered information technology somewhat. I browned the ground beef with onion and green pepper and then added some Castilian Gardens taco sauce. I left this mixture in my ovenproof skillet and topped it with shredded mexican cheese. I mixed up a Jiffy corn muffin mix adding a can of cream corn to information technology so pouring information technology over all of the cheese and beef in the skillet. I broiled it until the cornbread was done and served with baked sweet potato chips that had been shaken in a ziploc handbag with a little veg oil, half a packet of taco seasoning and honey.

This was very good. Made this as is, except I took it out of the oven after 50 mins. Took information technology besides a potluck at piece of work, it reheated very well, and everbody loved it. I volition make this once again for habitation. I might omit the pepper, it had a little as well much oestrus for me.
12/29/2009
Made the recipe with all ingredients and added taco seasoning to the ground beefiness. Came out groovy, took to a party and anybody wanted the recipe. I volition make it once again as I have a asking for new years eve.

I have been looking for a recipe close to one I found years ago in improve home and garden an this is the cosest by far-(I lost my cookbook with all my personal recipes) I used green chilies and stewed tomatos in plce of the jalap. :) it is wonderful - cheers for calculation

Nosotros could not consume this.

We really liked this recipe. I gave it 4 stars considering I tin can see how it could be bland as written. I have to say though, it's a great starting place. I have a plan for easy dinners where I melt in bulk and so use as needed. I usually brand a huge package of hamburger all as taco meat, with a diced onion and taco seasoning. This was a great style to use up a pound of that from the freezer. I just defrosted it and then followed the recipe as written, with the exception of using a pre-shredded mexican cheese blend, and evaporated milk instead. I also used two eggs, because I used whole tin of milk, well-nigh 1 1/ii cups, then threw in about an extra 1/2 cup of cornmeal as well.It was delicious and my whole family unit enjoyed it. Nosotros take a gluten intolerant family member as well, and they can eat it besides! Thanks for the yummy mexican cornbread recipe. Mucho Bueno!

Super recipe, very piece of cake, with minimal ingredients. My husband loved this as well equally the children. I also used two boxes of cornbread mix as another reviewer suggested, and layered first cornbread mixed with half the creamed corn on bottom, and then cheese, ground beef mixture, top layer cornbread due west/other half corn. 45 min turned out perfectly brown yet moist. The chopped jalapenos gave it a nice kicking, a keeper!
04/29/2010
This recipe is similar to one my Mom has been making for years and information technology is one of my favorites! The only matter I exercise differently is I add a tin on rotel to the ground beef after it's browned, and let the liquid cook out. I also use stale minced onion instead of fresh, chopped, but this recipe is a winner, and freezes well!
01/18/2010
This was a decent, filling meal. I threw the onions, along with some cumin in with the ground beefiness while it cooked. I likewise replaced the jalapenos with a can of dark-green chiles. 50 minutes was plenty of time to cook the goulash. Thanks!
09/03/2010
This is fantastic!! I likewise spice upwards the beef a little, whatever sounds good at the time. Green peppers go well and I think since information technology cooks for an hour you don't really demand to saute them outset, I put jalapenos on the side instead of cooking into the dish, for the lightweights. As well the jiffy cornbread makes this one the best good/easy recipes ever! Oh yeah, and the sour cream is a MUST. Thank yous for sharing this recipe!!
01/13/2012
I made this on New year's day'southward Day and followed the recipe precisely. Information technology was delicious and I got rave reviews from my friends! They loved it! They were still stopping by 2 days later on for more!! I'k about to brand some other batch. This fourth dimension I'm using whole kernel yellow corn, more cheese and more jalapenos for a little extra heat. Succulent!!!!
05/26/2009
Nosotros did enjoy this. I would have liked a little more bread in the mix to make it a trivial dryer, but overall proficient recipie. I am thinking of trying w/pork chorizo for a quick breakfast dish you could just re-heat.
11/29/2009
Just ok. I think information technology would take been better if I'd used a sweeter mix like Jiffy or added a little saccharide. I topped it with sour cream and that gave it a little extra dimension
07/25/2009
My family loved this! I did add some things to information technology. I used 1/2 cup of milk, and i/2 cup of sour cream. I too used more cheese than the recipe said. Not bad recipe! Thanks!
10/fourteen/2009
This is skillful and quite easy. We did non have whatever jalapenos or light-green chilis, merely would utilize chilis adjacent time. We put our cheese on top for the last 5 minutes in the oven simply mixed everything else together every bit written. Cracking principal dish!
11/16/2009
THIS IS A GREAT RECIPE. I DID Brand SOME CHANGES THOUGH I OMITTED THE ONIONS AS I DO NOT Similar THEM. AS ANOTHER REVIEWER SUGGESTED I ADDED TACO SEASONING TO MY MEAT USED SHREDDED MEXICAN CHEESE AND USED Tin can CHILIES. I Besides USED Style MORE CHEESE THAN THE RECIPE CALLED FOR AND A Trivial MORE MEAT. AFTER Nigh Twoscore MINUTES MY CORNBREAD WAS RATHER Night But Non BURNT. Information technology WAS STILL VERY Expert BUT ALSO Wet. Side by side TIME WILL ADD More CORN Repast TO MAKE DRIER BUT WILL BE A REGULAR Repast AT MY House FROM Now ON.
06/29/2010
This is the recipe that my mom used to brand. So wonderful peculiarly served with a pot of pinto beans.. Yum!
11/03/2011
This is an authentic TexMex recipe, much like the one I grew up with. I changed information technology quite a flake and thought information technology was awesome. I brown the gr.beef with onion, ane/4 - 1/2 blood-red bell, chopped fine, 3-5 chopped jals., 1-4 oz. can green chilis, and a skillful sprinkle of Grill Mates Southwest dry out seasoning; then thoroughly drain grease & liquid. All else is the same. Also, my oven runs hot, so I checked in 45 mins, and appeared, in all tests, to be done. After information technology cooled thirty mins. or so and I cut into serving pieces, it appeared to be a bit undercooked, so next fourth dimension, I will cook an actress five-7 mins.
05/28/2011
Easy to make, but tastes fairly ordinary, even with the extra spicy jalapenos I used and corn kernels.
12/10/2009
I just used the ready fabricated cornbread mix for this recipe and it turned out corking! My husband liked it and fifty-fifty had information technology for lunch the side by side solar day, which is rare. i volition make this once more and i cant look to start experimenting with it, it's just one of those types of recipes!!
01/31/2016
Instead of creamed corn, I used steamers southwest corn and did not add together any boosted onion as there was already onions and peppers in the southwest corn. Came out first-class!
01/29/2017
This was Delicious! Instead of jalapeños, I added in 4 slices of pepper jack cheese (plus the cup of shredded cheddar cheese). I likewise added in a can of drained chili beans. When serving, I topped each piece with salsa and sour cream. YUM!
07/28/2013
I accept fabricated this so many times and we honey it. The just thing I have done differently was mix an envelope of Taco Season Mix with the ground beef when I cook it. I usually cook information technology an hour or so ahead and let the meat soak up the seasonings.
09/eleven/2009
I thought this was pretty bland, I even put more cheese and jalapenos, and I added cumin. Still bland, and definitely not worth making again. As well was VERY corn-y.
11/23/2011
My family loved it! I will be making this more frequently.
03/29/2011
I just prepared the ingredients and added them to my normal cornbread recipe. Turned out nifty! I may add chili powder, cumin, or garlic pulverization, but it was fine as information technology is.

I take used this recipe for years, but never put it together similar that. I use canned chopped green chili's. The meat and cheese are the eye. one/two the batter on bottom and top. Bake about the same, 50-55 minutes. Succulent served with homemade salsa.
12/12/2012
My daughter and the dog (took the jalapenos out for him) liked it. I used flour in my cornbread mix. I too used cumin and chili powder in my ground turkey and I likewise used used stewed tomatoes in my bread. I enjoyed it but I think I should not have used basis met it was king of heavy to me.
10/22/2009
This is very tasty. I added chopped onions, bell pepper, garlic, chopped jalapeno, cumin and chili powder to the basis beef as information technology cooked. As well added a flake more cheese to the meridian. I got lots of compliments on it, even got compliments on the left overs :)
10/xx/2019
I fabricated a few changes to make information technology like my mom's mom's recipe that I lost years agone.
12/eleven/2014

06/14/2014
I have made this recipe twice. The starting time fourth dimension I used Jiffy cornbread mix and "Rotel" tuckered. Turned out swell and hands up with ii high school seniors. The next time I followed the entire recipe except two things: I used not fresh but pickled jalapeno'south as I always have them in refrigerator. I did layer part of information technology as someone suggested, for me the layering does non work, it does non mix well. I recall this is a bully recipe and volition go along to use it. Thank you Snowy!
02/25/2015
Put in a xv oz can of creamstyle corn and added an extra 1/2 cup cornmeal baked for seventy min. Still did non get washed. Flavor was very good but consistency was similar dressing. Adjacent time ane/2 can corn. It was tasty bur needs some refinement.
12/06/2014
Made this many times and family loves information technology. Instead of jalapeños (too hot) substituted about 1/four c of Pace picante sauce spooned over meat and chopped onion so remaining meat and cheese.
06/02/2013
This is just how my Grandmother used to make Mexican Cornbread. All the way downwards to the beans on the side. Ive adjusted to run across my husband'south taste. I add together a little cayenne to the cornbread mix and always extra peppers, but he likes spicy! Cheers*
05/02/2019
I made a Mexican repast, but several of the guests were not fond of rice then I made Mexican corn bread instead. It went over well, just a couole if peoole felt it was besides spicy. I similar information technology that way, but for company I might utilize just one jalapeño. I noticed some people said it didn't set in the centre. Mine did fine, It makes me wonder if they used sixteen oz of creamed corn instead of viii.
12/14/2020
Very succulent my family loved it
07/25/2018
Two have used it as written. Also if I don't have jalapenos I substitute with green chili, green peppers or light-green onions if you lot want it milder. Information technology is a family favorite. I besides substitute the ground beef with a tasty breakfast sausage sometimes.
03/02/2019
Made this several times and it always turns out well. I do employ salary drippings instead of nonstick spray and drizzle some on peak, just like I do when I brand a skillet of cornbread. I too added more meat and cheese, and occasionally use a Mexican cheese blend. It is more than of a casserole than cornbread, in my stance, but it reheats well, a big plus because my hubby takes leftovers to work for dejeuner.
04/10/2020
I tweeked the recipe browned basis beefiness with onions and jalepenos. pored one-half the batter in iron skillet sprayed with cooking spray. so add the ground beef mixture and good amount of Velveeta shreds. Last I poured the remainder of the batter on peak of cheese and footing beef mixture. Bake equally directed .

Hey guys. You left out the flour in your recipe. I am hoping everyone noticed this before they baked this. My recipe calls for more cornmeal so mine calls for more flour. If I did this one, I would probably add 3/iv cup of flour. Simply a head'south up to you bakers out there!!
06/01/2015
I loved it, kids loved it too, reheats well groovy for lunch at work.
10/31/2016

This is a go to in our house. I switched information technology up a scrap. I utilise sausage instead of ground beef and, I use i & one/ii pounds instead of 1 pound. Then, I dissever it upwards into two cast fe skillet'due south. I go them good and hot and then, bake for 35 minutes.
12/xx/2020
I used yeast instead of cornmeal. Chicken breast instead of ground beef. Provolone cheese instead of cheddar. Overall I didn't follow the recipe at all and notwithstanding can't figure out why it doesn't taste very good. I will actually make the recipe next time and provide feedback.
